TSG30 -ICME 12 Korea July 2012 - Acceptance of Paper... Xaab Nop

It gives us great pleasure to inform you that your proposal has been accepted for TSG30 in ICME - 12.  You are requested to prepare a revised paper of no more than 08 pages in the ICME-12 template to be submitted through the TSG 30 online submission system AND by email to the two co-chairs, by 10 April 2012. The template can be found at the ICME-12 website (http://www.icme12.org).

It is a further pleasure to note that  TSG 30 has received a very good response and it is among the few TSGs that have received a high number of papers (n=35).  We would like to capitalize on this high submission and create opportunities for rich, focussed, and in-depth discussions.  Hence, there might not be opportunities for individual presentations but an alternate structure and format of the TSG 30 sessions will be devised.  As soon as the organizing committee has agreed upon it, I will inform you about the structure of the TSG 30 sessions and the format for discussions.

How does the paper contribute (or not contribute) to the objectives of ICME 12 TSG 30?

Reviewer1:  To show that the Wejën Kajen is a suitable model for the construction of learning tools for members of the Ayuujk culture, which share some philosophy with the native cultures of  Latin America.

Reviewer 2:  The paper links to the objectives of the TSG 30.It raises issues of knowing how to learn, and the educaitonal processes from the perspective of the Ayuujk culture in Mexico.However, the writing suffers from a challenge coherence of expression in English language.

Reviewer 3: The paper describes the development of teaching of a mathematical topic based on the worldview of one of the indigenous peoples of Mexico. While the situation is not described as multicultural or multilingual, the paper does discuss issues of how mathematics teaching can and should be adapted to take account of different worldviews. Including the paper in the TSG will add a valuable and enriching voice to the group.
